Customizable Semi-Managed Servers

All Edge Servers are Semi-Managed. Our administrators install your Edge dedicated server, reinstall the OS per request and help server owners troubleshoot in case of any operating system, networking, or software configuration issues. Use custom IPv4 and IPv6 network settings and scale your bandwidth between 1 Gbps and 30 Gbps. Install CentOS, Ubuntu, and RockyLinux Linux server OS distribution. Windows Server editions 2019 and 2022 are also available on the edge server configuration page. Those who need a graphic dashboard (GUI) to manage their server can choose CentOS Web Panel (CWP), Froxlor, Vesta, another open-source control panel, or cPanel or DirectAdmin. To anyone who wants to use a Linux-based Cloud PC, we recommend Peppermint OS, which is based on the Debian/Devuan repositories.

Why Use Our Edge Dedicated Servers?

HostColor delivers Linux and Windows Dedicated Hosting services & Semi-Managed Servers from more than 80 data centers in North America and worldwide. In each edge data center use our local partners' NOCs and our own IPv4 & IPv6 networks to design and deliver networking services for the Private and Public Dedicated Cloud infrastructures we offer to HC customers. There are some things to consider when you are customizing your cloud-ready, edge server. We would suggest you plan ahead and consider that a growing business means that you will need more computing capacity. To avoid the hassle of any future migrations, choose your server carefully by:
Edge Data Center NOC

Edge Nodes Network

Our NOCs deliver network services to the Edge servers' clients using U.S. Tier 1 networks like Lumen, Comcast, Deutsche Telekom, GTT, KDDI, NTT, Rogers, Verizon, Zayo, and many other major ISPs offering the lowest possible round trip delays (RTT) in the U.S. an all over the world.
Premium SLA

Dedicated Hosting w/ Premium SLA

It is important for you to understand how HostColor's networking service works. Choose a certain bandwidth commitment in Mbps or go for metered data transfer. The Edge dedicated servers feature unrestricted bandwidth quota on 1Gbps, 10Gbps, 20Gbps, and 30Gbps capacity ports.
High Bandwidth Dedicated Hosting

Bandwidth or Data Transfer

We deliver both Edge Servers measured by the allocated "Bandwidth" quota (in Mbps or Gbps) and servers measured by the transmitted "Data Transfer" (in terabytes). Do you understand the difference between Data Transfer and Bandwidth? In HC's server plans "Data Transfer" is the monthly amount of data in terabytes (TB), allowed to be transferred over your internet port. "Bandwidth" describes the overall data volume (in Mbps or Gbps) that can be transferred in a 30-day period.
Terraform supported Edge Server

HC's Edge Nodes support TerraformĀ®

Terraform is an open-source infrastructure tool that uses declarative configuration files to define API calls using a write, plan, and apply workflow process. You can use Terraform to provision and manage your IT infrastructure hosted on our edge servers.
Virtualization ready Dedicated Servers

Cloud Edge Servers

Have you considered using any virtualization technology to create a Cloud Edge Server hosting environment? We design and deploy Kubernetes clusters, Linux Containers, Proxmox VE, and VMware ESXi-based virtualized infrastructures for our clients who need an edge server or cloud infrastructure.

We have been managing IT Hosting environments for almost two decades. Open Support Ticket to tell us more about your project. We will help you to secure your dedicated server.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my Edge Server protected against network failure?
Yes! Each server has four (4x) 25-gigabit network interfaces configured for redundancy on 2 separate NIC cards. All four interfaces are placed into a single link access group (LAG) and utilize LACP for individual link monitoring. Your Edge Dedicated Server is connected to two network switches with two (2x) 25-gigabit connection links to the first switch and two (2x) 25-gigabit to the second switch. Each network switch has multiple 100-gigabit fiber connections to the data center's network architecture that features failover protection. The overall networking architecture sustains full data transfer capacity with the failure of any single networking appliance or link. The data transfer from the Edge data centers to either the public Internet or the MPLS IP VPN network is secured by two diverse routers for each network. The routers are connected to a pair of network switches. The data transfer can be forwarded through both routers and will switch over automatically upon failure of any networking device.
How does HC bill my Edge Server and how can I cancel it?
After the payment is made, the billing month starts from the moment we send you the login credentials of your Semi-managed Edge Server. You can choose between a month-to-month contract and an annual contract. All Edge Hosting services are set to month-to-month contracts by default, something that gives you flexibility. If you want to sign an annual contract, we will give you a lower monthly service fee, however, you will be required to prepay the full contract (all 12 service fees). Please note that an Edge Server on a month-to-month contract must be properly canceled and terminated before we stop billing you. Like other dedicated hosting services, the Edge ones require a 30-day cancelation notice. However, on some occasions, we allow early cancelations. To qualify for an early cancelation, you must have submitted a cancelation request from your Account 5 business days before the beginning of the new billing cycle.
Which Linux OS can I use on my Edge Server?
There are "officially supported operating systems" on the Dedicated Servers hosted in our Edge data center locations. They are CentOS 7.9, Ubuntu 22.4, Ubuntu 20.4, Ubuntu 18.4, and RockyLinux 8.6. Our clients can use virtualization like Kernel-based Virtual Machine (Proxmox VE), VMware ESXi, VirtualBox, OpenVZ, Linux Containers, Kubernetes, and Docker.
These and other Linux OS distributions and virtualization technologies can be used on our 1gbps Unmetered Bandwidth Server configurations and all dedicated hosting services with up to 30Gbps bandwidth, delivered from the following Edge data centers: Albany, NY; Albuquerque, NM; Ashburn, VA; Austin, TX; Billings, MT; Boise, ID; Cambridge / Boston, MA; Casper, WY; Cedar Rapids, IA; Cincinnati, OH; Cleveland, OH; El Paso, TX; Fresno, CA; Honolulu, HI; Herndon, VA; Houston, TX; Indianapolis, IN; Jackson, MS; Jacksonville, FL; Las Vegas, NV; Little Rock, AR; Madison, WI; Minneapolis, MN; Munich, Germany; Nashville, KY; New Orleans, LA; New York City, NY; Omaha, NE; Tustin, Orange County, CA; Philadelphia, PA; Phoenix, AZ; Pittsburgh, PA; Portland, OR; Raleigh, NC; Sacramento, CA; Salt Lake City, UT; San Antonio, TX; San Diego, CA; Spokane, WA; Saint Louis, MO; Tampa, FL; Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In all other data centers where HostColor delivers Dedicated Server hosting services, there is a wide choice of Linux, Windows OS, and virtualization technologies.
How does HC assign IP addresses on the Edge Servers?
Each Edge Server is assigned its own IPv4 subnet that varies from /29 (8 IPs addresses) to /24 (256 IPs). The first three IP addresses are used for the networking service of your server as follows: 1st IP address is for the router default gateway; 2nd IP address is reserved for router1; 3rd IP is reserved for router2. The 4th IP address is the main IP of your Edge Dedicated Server. Any additional IP addresses can be ordered from Accounts.HostColor.com and can be used for various services on your server.
