It is important to understand the difference between data transfer and bandwidth rate. "Data Transfer" is the contracted amount of data in metered terabytes allowed to be transmitted over a certain bandwidth channel (for example 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps). Bandwidth is the volume of information that can be sent over the internet connection in a measured amount of time – calculated in megabits (Mbps) or gigabits (Gbps) per second.

Is my Edge Bare Metal Server protected against network failure?
Yes! Each Edge Bare Metal server has four (4x) 25-gigabit network interfaces configured for redundancy on 2 separate NIC cards. All four interfaces are placed into a single link access group (LAG) and utilize LACP for individual link monitoring. Your Bare Metal Server is connected to two network switches with two (2x) 25-gigabit connection links to the first switch and two (2x) 25-gigabit to the second switch. Each network switch has multiple 100-gigabit fiber connections to the data center's network architecture that features failover protection. The overall networking architecture sustains full data transfer capacity with the failure of any single networking appliance or link. The data transfer from the Edge data centers to either the public Internet or the MPLS IP VPN network is secured by two diverse routers for each network. The routers are connected to a pair of network switches. The data transfer can be forwarded through both routers and will switch over automatically upon failure of any networking device.
How does HostColor bill my Edge Bare Metal Server?
After the payment is made, the billing month starts from the moment we send you the login credentials of your Semi-managed Edge Bare Metal Server. You can choose between a month-to-month contract and an annual contract. All Edge Bare Metal Dedicated Hosting services are set to month-to-month contracts by default, something that gives you flexibility. If you want to sign an annual contract, we will give you a lower monthly service fee, however, you will be required to prepay the full contract (all 12 service fees). Please note that an Edge Server on a month-to-month contract must be properly canceled and terminated before we stop billing you. Like other dedicated hosting services, the Bare Metal ones require a 30-day cancelation notice. However, on some occasions, we allow early cancelations. To qualify for an early cancelation, you must have submitted a cancelation request from your Account 5 business days before the beginning of the new billing cycle.
Which Linux OS can I use on my Edge Bare Metal Server?
There are "officially supported operating systems" on the Bare Metal Servers hosted in our Edge data center locations. They are CentOS 7.9, Ubuntu 22.4, Ubuntu 20.4, Ubuntu 18.4, and RockyLinux 8.6. Our clients can use virtualization like Kernel-based Virtual Machine (Proxmox VE), VMware ESXi, VirtualBox, OpenVZ, Linux Containers, Kubernetes, and Docker.

How does HC assign IP addresses on the Edge Bare Metal Servers?
Each Edge Bare Metal Server is assigned its own IPv4 subnet that varies from /29 (8 IPs addresses) to /24 (256 IPs). The first three IP addresses are used for the networking service of your server as follows: 1st IP address is for the router default gateway; 2nd IP address is reserved for router1; 3rd IP is reserved for router2. The 4th IP address is the main IP of your Bare Metal Server. Any additional IP addresses can be ordered from Accounts.HostColor.com and can be used for various services on your server.
